Taking A First Step
April 11, 2003
Antonio: It's Cole Avery, released from Statesville a week ago. Did 12 years for aggravated assault and armed robbery. He's here in Llanview.
Bo: You know him?
Antonio: Yeah, yeah, I know him. Listen, I heard you spent the night -- I'll be down at records if you need me
Bo: Ok. You got my message.
Gabrielle: When you said that you would be working late, I didn't realize you meant all night.
Bo: Oh, I'm sorry. I really didn't intend to.
Gabrielle: Could we cut to the chase? Bo, is it over between us?
*~*
Gabrielle: It's not that I blame you. I can understand if you weren't able to forgive me.
Bo: Gabrielle --
Gabrielle: The letter arrived, i read it, and I just thought that you would turn away from me instantly, so I burned it. And then, of course, compounding that was that ridiculous lie about resigning from "the banner" because Mitch Laurence took over, and then, on top of that, making it worse, I broke into Nora's house to get the other copy --
Bo: Gabrielle -- Gabrielle, stop, all right? You told me the truth. You gave me the news that i have a son. So in the end, I think you did the right thing.
Gabrielle: You're the most wonderful man in this entire world! You.
[Gabrielle laughs]
Gabrielle: You so deserved to know the truth, and how could I let little Matthew not know that he's got the most wonderful father in the whole world?
Bo: Gabrielle, I'm not going to tell him, and you're not, either.
*~*
Gabrielle: You're not going to tell Matthew that you're his father?
Bo: No, not yet. It's just -- it's just too soon. You know, I'm not going to spring this on him, not right away, because, you know, he's too little and this is too big.
Gabrielle: Of course. Of course. You're right. Of course. It's going to be extremely difficult for you.
Bo: Yeah, but that'll be my problem. I don't want to make it Matthew's. And I am going to be spending a lot more time with him because I want him to be just as comfortable as he possibly can around me.
Gabrielle: Yeah, that's good. That's a good idea.
Bo: Yeah. That means that I am going to be spending more time with Nora. Now, is that going to be a problem?
Gabrielle: No. Of course not.
[Phone rings]
Bo: Excuse me. Buchanan.
Renee: Bo, I know I should go through proper channels, and I'm sorry to bother you.
Bo: Renee, hold it. Just calm down. What's going on?
Renee: Another guest at the hotel has been robbed.
This was an associate of Asa's. He's going to have a fit, and I don't know what to do.
*~*
Bo: Gabrielle, honey, you really have to think about this. If I'm going to be spending more time with Matthew, then I'm --
Gabrielle: Be spending more time with Nora.
Bo: You have nothing to be insecure about.
Gabrielle: So you're not saying adios to you and me?
Bo: No, you don't get rid of me that easily. Look -- I'm not saying that it's not going to be hard, but we can do it.
Gabrielle: Yes, yes, we can do it.
[Knock on door]
Bo: Yes.
Hank: Hey, hey. I'm sorry to interrupt. Look, the price case is on the docket this afternoon. There's still some testimony to review.
Bo: Ok.
Gabrielle: I'll -- I better go, then. I'll see you later?
Bo: Count on it.
Gabrielle: Bye, hank.
Hank: Bye.
Bo: All right. Ahem. Let's do it, ok? We'll start with the depositions.
*~*
Hank: All right, look, I'll walk through the testimony with the witness. Should be here any minute.
Bo: Ok, great. Thanks.
Hank: Yeah. Any progress on the Laurence investigation?
Bo: Hmm -- no, not enough.
Hank: Ok. Well, look, stick with it, huh? If the Jason's Landing police hadn't blown the arrest, we'd have Laurence on an attempted murder charge. But at least we've got him for kidnapping Blair. And with any luck, once we get her on the stand, he's as good as gone.
Bo: 10 to 20 -- that's a start.
Hank: Yeah. Listen, did I interrupt something earlier?
Bo: What, between Gabrielle and me? Nah.
Hank: Yeah. Are you two ok?
Bo: Yeah, fine, fine. Better than fine, actually.
Hank: Good. Glad to hear that. See you later.
Bo: Ok.
Hank: All right, bye.
*~*
Bo: Hello. Matthew? Hi. It's Bo. How you doing? Great. Great. I tell you, I was wondering, maybe -- how'd you like to catch a movie with me later on this afternoon? Yeah? All right, good. Yeah, your mom can come, too. That'd be fine.
