Moving On

Hank: Nora, thank you for coming by so late.

Nora: Anything for you. What do you want? What?

Hank: This a new look?

Nora: What are you talking about?

Hank: Your earrings.

Nora: What about them? Oh, God, different earrings. Yes, it's actually a new fashion craze.

Hank: Uh-huh. Are you ok?

Nora: I'm fine, I'm fine. I've just got a lot of work, you know, stuff.

Hank: Ah, yeah, not to mention a wedding coming up. I haven't forgotten.

Nora: Oh, yeah. Well, you won't be needing this. There's not going to be a wedding.

Hank: Well, what happened?

Todd: Hank! I'm glad you're still here.

Hank: Not now, Todd. I'm in the middle of something with Nora.

Todd: Yeah, yeah, well, forget about it because this is important. It's about my kids.

*~*

Todd: [to his lawyer] Where have you been? What, did you take the scenic route? This -- this is -- yeah, well, he's my lawyer -- well, for now.

Hank: What is this about, Todd?

Todd: Ok, you know that -- that restraining order that Blair had against me? I mean, it's off, right? I mean, I'm just checking.

Hank: Why?

Todd: Well, because I was going to take the kids away for a little while and I didn't want any of the cops to bother me.

Hank: And that's why you have your lawyer?

Todd: Yeah. Well, you know, in case there's any problems.

Nora: Do you think there are going to be problems?

Todd: Well, I know you guys. I mean, I know how you screw everything up. So anyway, things couldn't be better between me and Blair.

Hank: Is that a fact?

Todd: Yeah, yeah. You know what -- we're getting married again. This is the marriage certificate, and look -- well, that's me -- but look, she even signed it and everything, right there.

Nora: If you're getting married, how come you're taking the kids away?

Todd: Uh -- well, to give Blair some alone time. You know how it is. It's hard planning a wedding all by yourself -- well, you know. I mean, I hear you're getting married again.

Hank: Well, Todd, you came down here for nothing. Blair already called. She wants to restore the restraining order against you. In fact, she wants to press charges.

Todd: For what?

Hank: Fraud. Something about false pretenses. What's that about?

Nora: Oh, that's easy. That's just about Todd.

Todd: What, am I paying you to just stand there?

Man: We need to discuss this.

Todd: I think we need to discuss me getting another lawyer.

*~*

Hank: Sorry about that.

Nora: What, about doing your job?

Hank: No, Todd bringing up the wedding.

Nora: Oh, please. I have to get used to that. As a matter of fact, I've got -- I've got a lot of phone calls to make.

Hank: Hey, Nora, let me do that for you.

Nora: You got enough on your plate, ok? Don't add guilt to all the rest of my feelings, please.

Hank: Well, then have someone else do it. You shouldn't have to.

Nora: I am -- fine. Hey, don't worry about me, ok?

Hank: Look, I'm sorry things didn't work out for you and Troy.

Nora: Oh, well, heck. I didn't want to have to break another losing streak.

Hank: You know, let's get out of here. What do you say? Let's go somewhere.

Nora: No, I can't.

Hank: Nora, I want to help.

Nora: I know you do. I know you do. There's nothing anyone can do.

Hank: I know that you and Troy had some issues. I thought you'd worked through them.

Nora: Yep, so did I. So did I. I just was stupid, Hank. I should've seen this one coming.

*~*

Hank: Hey, Nora. Sorry about all these interruptions tonight.

Nora: Hey, it's all right. You're just a man in demand. So you want to tell me what you wanted to tell me before the phone rings again or something?

Hank: No, no, don't worry about it. It can wait. You've got a lot to deal with.

Nora: Ok. I do need to go home.

Hank: Nora? I hate to see you go like this.

Nora: I'll be ok, Hank. I've had a lot of practice.

[Phone rings]

Hank: Oh, man, I don't believe this.

Nora: I'll talk to you later.

Hank: Bye.

Nora: Bye.

Hank: Yeah, this is Gannon. Liz, what's wrong? I'll be right there. Excuse me.

Nora: What is it? What's going on?

Hank: Keri's in the hospital. She just went into labor.

Nora: What? What happ-- I'm coming with you.

*~*

Nora: Hey.

Hank: Liz. Where's Keri?

Liz: In with the doctor.

Nora: How is she doing?

Liz: She's having the baby.

Nora: What? They couldn't stop the contractions?

Liz: No.

Hank: Well, why aren't you in there with her?

Liz: She didn't want me in there.

Nora: But you're the baby's mother.

Antonio: She said she wanted to do it herself.

Nora: Oh, for goodness sake, women in labor say a lot of things they don't mean.

R.J.: Oh, no. No, she meant it.

Liz: Dr. Conklin. What's happening?

Dr. Conklin: Keri's doing just fine.

Liz: Oh.

Dr. Conklin: She delivered a baby girl.

Liz: The baby?

Dr. Conklin: Well, we've got her on a ventilator till her lungs mature.

Liz: Mm-hmm.

Dr. Conklin: But barring any complications, she'll be just fine.

Antonio: Ok, can we see her?

Liz: Thank God.

Dr. Conklin: We're taking her to neonatal, so no visitors.

Liz: Thank you.

Antonio: What about -- what about Keri?

Dr. Conklin: She doesn't want to see anyone.

R.J.: What about her father?

Dr. Conklin: She said no one. I'm sorry. It's not my decision.

Nora: You know what? I think I'll wait in the sunroom for my turn to see Keri. It's a long line.

*~*

Troy: I'm not interested in anything you have to say. I have work to do.

Lindsay: Are you kidding me? After everything --

Troy: I said I am through with you! Do you understand that?

Lindsay: Oh, I see where this is going. I set you off, you tell me how much you hate me, and, before you know it, we're at each other on that couch over there.

Troy: You're sick, do you know that?

Lindsay: You're sicker.

Troy: Yeah, you're probably right about that. I'm the one that put up with your garbage.

Lindsay: And you know why you do? Because when you're with me, it's the best you ever had.

{Nora walks in}

Troy: Nora -- Nora, just wait, please --

Nora: No, no, no, I've got nothing to say to you.

Troy: Nora, we need to talk

Nora: Why don't you and Lindsay go off together and do whatever it is that you do together.

Troy: Nora, please, please --

Nora: You really do deserve each other.

Troy: Just listen to me for one second.

[Pager beeps]

Troy: It's an emergency. I got to check on a patient. Please just wait for me, ok? Don't go anywhere.

~*~

Lindsay: Oh, no, you're not going anywhere till we have a little talk.

Nora: What could I possibly have to say to you?

Lindsay: How about "thank you"?

Nora: I'm supposed to thank you?

Lindsay: From where I stand, you owe me.

Nora: Really? For what?

Lindsay: What? What do you mean? In a couple of days, you would have been married to Troy and sharing him with me.

Nora: And I'm supposed to be grateful for you saving me from that fate?

Lindsay: Well, you would have found out about it sooner or later. I think its better that you found out about it before you got married. That way you can make a clean break and save yourself from a messy divorce. Yes, from where I stand, I'm kind of like your new best friend.

*~*

Nora: All right.

Lindsay: "All right" what?

Nora: You want me to thank you? Fine. Thank you.

Lindsay: Oh, but you don't really mean it.

Nora: Oh, but I do. I do mean it because, indeed, you did save me from marrying Troy, which would've been the worst mistake of my life.

Lindsay: I always thought so.

Nora: And you've convinced me of that fact, absolutely. But you know what's the best part?

Lindsay: What?

Nora: No more you. That's right; I've gotten rid of you. No more sneak attacks, no more snarky comments, no more you. Do you know how good that makes me feel?

Lindsay: Do you really expect me to believe that it doesn't bother you?

Nora: You know, I don't really care what you believe because you can't touch me .

Lindsay: I won, Nora.

Nora: Congratulations.

Lindsay: And I know how much you hate that.

Nora: You believe whatever you want to believe.

Lindsay: And I know how bad it feels to be on the losing end. Like when you got Sam and Bo.

Nora: I'm not you, Lindsay.

Lindsay: No, but I bet you wish you were because I have what you want. I've got Troy.

Nora: Oh, my. I finally figured out what it is, what this is all about.

Lindsay: What are you talking about?

Nora: This isn't about Troy or Bo. This isn't even about Sam. It's about me. It's about you wanting to hurt me. Huh. Well, you can't hurt me if I won't let you, and I'm not because I'm moving on, Lindsay, and that frustrates you, doesn't it?

Lindsay: Oh, don't be ridiculous.

Nora: No. No. I'm not you, Lindsay. But -- you could be me. Here you go.

Lindsay: What's this?

Nora: It's my wedding invitation. You just cross off my name, put in yours, and you can have my old life with Troy. Hope it brings you as much happiness as it brought me.
