Lindsay's Evaluation

July 10, 2003

Nora: She's not going get released from here, not as long as she's claiming that she was down on the docks the night Mitch Laurence was murdered, making love to Troy MacIver.

Bo: Maybe it's true.

Nora: Are you kidding?

Bo: Are you kidding? As far as Troy MacIver’s concerned, I don't take anything for granted anymore.

Nora: Yeah. Well --

Bo: Well, let's say he is still fooling around with Lindsay.

Nora: It's sick.

Bo: Well, it's reckless. Anybody finds out about that, he's going to lose his license.

Nora: He'd lose everything.

Bo: Yes, maybe he already has. No, Lindsay and Troy -- both of them -- far as I'm concerned, I'd give neither one of them the benefit of the doubt anymore.

*~*

Nora: Dr. Bonner, Lindsay's evaluation directly affects our investigation of the Laurence homicide.

Dr. Bonner: Listen, I am only interested in my patient's mental condition. Your criminal investigation has no bearing on my evaluation.

*~*

Dr. Bonner: Now, a person's dreams reveal unconscious desires or fears. Delusions do the same. So what we're trying to determine today is whether or not Lindsay can tell the difference between those delusions and reality.

Bo: Well, doctor, we sure do appreciate you letting us sit in on your session.

Dr. Bonner: Now, remember, you're just observers. Hmm? All right, let's begin.

Nora: Excuse me.

*~*

Dr. Bonner: Lindsay, do you know what you're doing here today?

Lindsay: I'm here for a psychological evaluation.

Dr. Bonner: That's right.

Sister Theresa: Excuse me, doctor. We're running a little late, and Lindsay hasn't taken her meds today. perhaps she should do that before we begin.

Dr. Bonner: Yes, of course.

Sister Theresa: Are you all right?

Lindsay: It got caught in my throat. I don't remember the pill being that big. All right. I'm ready, Dr. Bonner.

*~*

Dr. Bonner: Now, do you know, Lindsay, why you were brought here for treatment?

Lindsay: Because I killed Sam.

Dr. Bonner: And do you know who Sam was?

Lindsay: Sam is my husband. I mean, Sam was my husband. He's my ex-husband, the father of my children.

Dr. Bonner: And have you seen Sam since then?

Lindsay: Yes, I have. But it wasn't real. I know that now. I'm doing a lot better because now when I see Sam --

Dr. Bonner: You still see him?

Lindsay: Yes, I have nightmares. And who wouldn't have nightmares in here? I'm locked up every night and I sleep in a strange bed.

[Phone rings]

Dr. Bonner: You mentioned your children.

Lindsay: Will and Jen, yes.

Dr. Bonner: How old are they now?

Lindsay: Actually, they're all grown up now. Will just graduated from law school, and Jen is still in college. Sam and I are very proud of them. Sam was very proud of them. I know he's dead.

Bo: Psst. Just got something on the Laurence case. I'm going to head over there. You want to come?

Nora: No, I want to stay here and listen to this.

Bo: All right. See you.

Nora: OK.

Dr. Bonner: All right, Lindsay, now let's continue. I hear that you told one of the sisters that you're in love?

Lindsay: I made love. That's right, Nora. I made love to Troy on the docks. And then we came back here and made love again. You see, I was with Troy the whole time. That's why it was impossible that I could've murdered Mitch. You believe me, don't you? You know I'm not crazy.

*~*

Dr. Bonner: Now, Lindsay, are you telling me that you left St. Ann's for an assignation with Dr. MacIver?

Lindsay: Troy --

Dr. Bonner: Lindsay?

Lindsay: I don't feel right. Something's different.

Sister Theresa: Would you like some more water?

Lindsay: No, I'm not thirsty!

Dr. Bonner: Lindsay, we were talking about Troy MacIver.

Lindsay: Troy? Oh, I knew you'd come here.

Dr. Bonner: Oh -- Lin--

Lindsay: You can't leave me here --

Dr. Bonner: Lindsay, I am Dr. Bonner.

Lindsay: Don't leave me in this place. I love you, and I know you to love me. I need you to show me. Love me right now.

Sister Theresa: Lindsay!

Dr. Bonner: Take her to her room, please. Take her to her room.

Sister Theresa: Let's go lie down for a while, all right, Lindsay?

Lindsay: No! Don't touch me! It burns! Don't touch me!

Sister Theresa: All right, dear.

Nora: What happened?

Dr. Bonner: It was the pressure of the interview. It caused a relapse. I've seen it before.

Nora: She's not well, is she? I mean, she's -- she's really not well.

Dr. Bonner: She's still fixated on Troy MacIver. The mere mention of his name seemed to trigger that outburst. Under the circumstances, I'm afraid I'm going to have to recommend that she remain here for treatment indefinitely.

*~*

Bo: Dorian, I'm glad you're still here.

Dorian: Hello, Bo. I assume you're here to clear my name.

Bo: My men just searched your office. They found this vial half-filled with arsenic. It was stashed in one of the heating vents.

Dorian: Arsenic?

Bo: Dorian, you're under arrest for the murder of Mitch Laurence.
