Gabrielle's Decision

March 31, 2003

Sam's voice: "I don't want Matthew to be alone in the world. He needs more than his mother. He needs his father, too. And that's you, Bo. I'm sorry I kept this from you. You're Matthew's biological father."

Max: Glad I found you.

Gabrielle: Max. Something's happened?

Max: Yeah. You're looking at the new manager of Capricorn.

Gabrielle: Oh, that's great.

Max: That means I can share in al's tuition cost.

Gabrielle: That's wonderful.

Max: Is something wrong?

Gabrielle: No, no, no. I'm just very -- I'm very happy for your news. That's great.

Max: Hmm. You and Bo having trouble?

Gabrielle: No. Not yet.

*~*

Nora: Ok, so, is my son a soccer champion, or is he a soccer champion.

Bo: He's a natural.

Nora: Did he score?

Bo: Yeah. That's all he did was score.

Nora: Really?

Bo: I mean, nobody could top him, yikes.

Nora: Oh, that's great! Thanks for taking him, Bo. I appreciate it.

Bo: You know, I wish Sam could have been there. I think every kid, every boy needs his dad --

Antonio: Excuse me. Commissioner?

Bo: Yes, Antonio.

Antonio: Is there a reason you pulled me off of homicide and have me checking out the burglaries at the palace?

Bo: What, you don't like investigating burglaries?

Antonio: Come on, Commissioner. I should be working the Rappaport murder case.

Bo: At ease, detective --

Antonio: I should be out building the case against Blair Manning.

Nora: Assuming she's our killer.

*~*

Gabrielle: Max, anything that I tell you now, it'll stay between us, right? Promise?

Max: Yeah.

Gabrielle: It seems that Sam has taken a very big secret to the grave.

Max: Bo is Matthew's father? Well, but Bo and Nora -- they had all kinds of tests done. They knew it was Sam's son. They had proof.

Gabrielle: Well, there's proof attached here, too.

Max: Oh, wow.

Gabrielle: Yeah, this arrived at Bo's apartment not too long ago. He hasn't seen it yet.

Max: You know what Bo and Nora went through, wondering whether Sam or Bo was the father? Huh. Wow, all along --

Gabrielle: All along it was Bo.

Max: Hmm. Well, having a kid changes your whole life.

Gabrielle: Yes, it does.

*~*

Antonio: You arrested Blair Manning for the murder, right? So what's the problem?

Nora: Well, we -- we now have reason to believe that maybe Sam wasn't the intended victim.

Antonio: Really?

Bo: Antonio, why don't you get back to the case that you were working.

Antonio: I'm finished. I just submitted my report.

Bo: Well, that's great then. Have a good evening.

Antonio: Commissioner --

Bo: Good night, detective.

Nora: Am I missing something? I thought he was on the case.

Bo: I pulled him off the case.

Nora: Oh, I see.

Bo: I think the fewer people that know that we're looking at Lindsay the better.

Nora: No, you're right, you're right. She's a flight risk.

Bo: And we still need more before I can make an arrest.

Nora: So how do we get her?

Bo: We know she was lurking around Blair's house, and that's before news of the shooting even broke.

Nora: Yes, and we know she has motive to shoot Troy and that Troy was at Blair Manning's house before Sam arrived.

Bo: And she had a gun. Now, Lindsay -- c course, she swears up and down it was a toy gun, but I think her daughter knows different.

Nora: Bo, are you sure that Jen recognized the murder weapon?

Bo: I'm telling you, she turned as white as a sheet.

Nora: She wasn't just rattled, you know, seeing the actual gun that killed her father?

Bo: No. I think she knew that it was the gun that her mother had.

*~*

Max: You're afraid Bo and Nora are going to get closer?

Gabrielle: Well, when you have a child together, it does bind you forever.

*~*

Gabrielle: Being parents doesn't always mean that you become lovers again.

Max: And you think this could happen with Bo and Nora?

Gabrielle: Max, they do have a history.

Max: And they do have Matthew now -- although they don't know it yet.

Gabrielle: Yeah, but they will soon enough.

Max: How's that?

Gabrielle: Well, I have to show this to Bo. Don't I?

*~*

Nora: It just doesn't add up, Bo. Even if Jen did recognize the murder weapon, we know it was registered to Todd Manning.

Bo: Yeah, and if it's Todd's gun, then how'd Lindsay get her hands on it?

Nora: Well, we know for sure that Todd didn't give it to her.

Bo: And I don't think she stole it, either.

[Phone rings]

Bo: Buchanan. Oh, damn it. Ok, I'll be right there.

Nora: What's going on?

Bo: Oh, Sgt. Franklin. He's off duty. He's over at Rodi's having a beer, and -- oh, and Antonio -- he's picking a fight with Troy.

Nora: What?

Bo: You want to ride along with me?

Nora: Oh, all right.

*~*

Gabrielle: Are you suggesting that I don't show this report to Bo?

Max: Isn't that what you're suggesting?

Gabrielle: An awful lot of things have changed for me since I've been with Bo. If I don't show this to him, I keep it to myself and he finds out some other way --

Max: You think he will leave you in a heartbeat.

Gabrielle: But if I do show it to him --

Max: Hmm. Well, you better make up your mind, and quick.

*~*

Troy: If the police want to question me again, detective, then the police should call me in. Otherwise, you should leave me alone.

Antonio: Oh, come on, man. You could tell me. What, you got a hot date? Blair coming down? How did Sam Rappaport get mixed up in your affair with Blair?

[Troy sighs]

Bo: Let's step outside, Det. Vega --

Antonio: That's why Todd wants you dead, because you were doing his ex!

Bo: That's it! Outside, now.

Bo: What the hell do you think you're doing in there?

Antonio: My job.

Bo: Not anymore. Give me your badge.

Antonio: Commissioner --

Bo: I want the badge right now! You had your last chance. You blew it!

*~*

Bo: Troy --

Troy: Yeah.

Bo: I'd like to apologize for Det. Vega. You know, he's going through a lot right now.

Troy it's fine, it's fine. But listen, is what he's saying true? Do the police think that I could have been the real target here?

Bo: Well, we're checking all possibilities. I'll see you.

*~*

Nora: Ok, so do we go to Lindsay's?

Bo: Yeah, I've got to ask her some questions. Hold on a second. Hey.

Gabrielle: Oh!

Bo: Oh, you know what? I am so glad to see you out instead of just waiting around for me at home.

Gabrielle: I didn't see you. I just have a little dust in my eyes. Are you having a long night?

Bo: Yeah, I'm afraid so.

Gabrielle: Oh, well, I'll wait up for you.

Bo: No, you better not.

Gabrielle: No?

Bo: We may not be finished until tomorrow morning.

Gabrielle: Oh. Breakfast in bed?

Bo: Yeah.

[Gabrielle laughs]

Bo: Ok, I'll see you.

*~*

Nora: Hi, Jen.

Jen: Hi.

Nora: Is your mother here?

Jen: No.

Bo: Do you have any idea where we could find her?

Jen: She's at a meeting with a client.

Bo: Jen, are you doing ok?

Jen: Not really.

Bo: Is there anything you'd like to tell us?

Jen: Like what?

Nora: Jen, do you have any reason to believe that your mother may be connected to your father's death?

Jen: No. No, and how could you even ask me that?

Nora Jen --

Jen: I go to go.

Bo: Jen, I want you to take this card. If you ever want to walk or if there's ever anything that you want to tell me, I want you to call that number. That's my private number.

Nora: She's lying for her mother.

Bo: I think it's time to find Lindsay.
