Another Unexpected Death

March 14, 2003

Bo: How you holding up?

Antonio: Fine.

Bo: I heard you went off on a little girl at the hospital -- a Flash something or other?

Antonio: I questioned her in connection with the drug overdose, sir. She was resistant. Look, I tried to scare her a little.

Bo: And then she clammed up, and then you got squat on the drugs. Now, Antonio, am I going to have to regret keeping you on active duty?

Antonio: No, sir.

Bo: Because our jobs are to serve and protect, and we can't let anything going on in our personal lives interfere with that.

Antonio: It was a bad call, sir.

Bo: That's why you have a badge. That's why you have the authority. I know from experience that things can get rough in our personal lives, but then a cop's power can become a liability.

Antonio: Sir, does this have anything to do with what happened with Ben Davidson?

Bo: No, it doesn't, but you just made my point for me. Now, I need you on your game, Antonio.

Antonio: I need to work, sir. It's the only place I can stop thinking.

Officer: Commissioner?

Bo: Yeah?

Officer: The doc's there with the body. It's Sam Rappaport.

Bo: Det. Vega and I are on our way. I want you to get forensics over there.

Officer: You got it

Antonio: I'll meet you at the car.

Bo: Antonio, I want you with me on this, but --

Antonio: Commissioner, believe me, I know.

[Siren]

Troy: You -- Blair, you were upstairs sleeping it off. There's no way you could've called Sam.

[Siren stops]

Troy: How did Sam end up in your bedroom?

Bo: Where is he?

Troy: He's upstairs, right where I found him. Co on.

Antonio: Make sure nobody touches anything.

Troy: Let's go in here.

Bo: Victor lord.

Antonio: Commissioner?

Bo: Seal off the entire area. This house is a crime scene. Get forensics up here right away.

Antonio: Who would want to kill Sam Rappaport?

*~*

Troy: I was here earlier because Blair was upset.

Blair: And then he left.

Troy: She had fallen asleep, and I had gotten a call from the hospital. But, Commissioner, when I left, there was no sign of Sam.

Antonio: Why did you come back?

Blair: I -- I called him.

Antonio: Instead of calling the police?

Blair: I didn't know what else to do.

Bo: And you found Sam?

Troy: Yes, exactly the way you saw him.

Antonio: Why didn't you call an ambulance?

Troy: Thought it was already called. There was nothing anybody could do for him. I didn't want to contaminate the crime scene.

Bo: We appreciate that.

Troy: Commissioner, am I a suspect here?

Bo: We're just trying to get a sense of a timeline right now. All right, the gun that we found on the floor upstairs -- do you have any idea who that belongs to?

Antonio: You're lying, Blair.

Troy: Oh, come on. There's no need for that.

Antonio: Come on, it wasn't yours? You never kept one lying around just in case?

Blair: In case of what?

Antonio: I'm sure Todd had plenty. He never gave you one for protection?

Blair: No, he didn't!

Troy: You can't possibly think that Blair did this!

Blair: Why -- why in the world would I ever shoot Sam?

Troy: Maybe you can bring it down a notch, detective? Blair, I'm really sorry. Sam was a good man.

Blair: Goodbye, Sam.

Officer: Rotten thing to happen to a guy like Rappaport.

Man: Yeah, as lawyers go, he was a real standup guy.

Lindsay: Sam?

*~*

Bo: Think you can have her cleaned up and down to the station in about an hour or so?

Officer: Excuse me, Det. Vega?

Bo: Blair, we're going to have to ask you some more questions.

Antonio: What's the matter with you?

Officer: It's a gore fest up there. I was going to label it in the cruiser.

Antonio: That's not procedure, and you know it!

Officer: Oh, come on!

Antonio: The last thing we need is some miscellaneous firearm floating around the evidence room!

Bo: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Let's hold it down out here, gentlemen.

Antonio: Commissioner --

Bo: Give me that. There. Problem solved.

Antonio: But, Commissioner, you said yourself we can't afford to make mistakes --

Bo: Outside, detective, now. Is this really working?

Antonio: Which way do you want it, Commissioner? I mean, you know as well as I do if we mess up the evidence, then whoever did this --

Bo: Look, the gun is tagged, all right? It's no big deal.

Antonio: And if I hadn't caught it?

Bo: Look, we all work together here, all right? We cover each other. Nobody is better than anybody else. Are you listening, detective?

Antonio: Yes, sir.

Bo: Ok, then get your perspective squared away, because I don't want to be forced to pull you off this case.

Antonio: You won't have to do that, sir.

Bo: Prove it!

Troy: Blair, just try and remember, all right? Did you call Sam after I left?

Blair: No. I -- I don't know because I don't remember anything.

Bo: What are you doing here, Lindsay?
