Chapter Nine:
Two months have passed and Matthew has adjusted happily to his new family life. He loves having his mother and father there with him every morning and every night. He’s adjusted well to his new found family and loves spending as much time with his Grandpa and Grandma as he can.
Election Day:
They walked into Rodi’s, hand in hand; the crowd erupting into a round of applause as soon as they walked in. Bo pulls her close and kisses her temple. She begins to speak as the crowd finally settles down, “Thank you, all of you, but this all”’ motioning to the balloons and streamers all over the bar, “might be a bit premature.”
“No way darling, there’s no way Coulson is going to beat you.”
“Well from your lips to God’s ears, Renee, because if you’re wrong, I’ll be switching sides once again.”
“You’ll win Ms. Buchanan. I just know you will.”
Bo walks over to Vicki, Nora turns her attention back towards Marcie, “Thank you Marcie, and I really appreciate all the help you’ve put into my campaign,” looking over at Al, “you too, Al, considering…well considering everything.”
“I was happy to do it, regardless of what happened between my mom and Bo. I know my mom’s not perfect, and she really should’ve known better than to get herself mixed up with the likes of Troy. I mean I know that’s not what broke them up,” Nora looks down at the ground, her hand instinctively went to her stomach, “but I honestly think it was for the best. My mom can’t help being who she is, so you can let yourself off the hook now.”
She lays her hand on his cheek and smiles, “Your father would be so proud of you.”
His eyes well up with tears, the pain still so fresh, “I know, I really miss him.”
“We all do. Max was a good friend. I’ll never forget him.”
Bo walks up and puts his arm around Nora, shaking Al’s hand, “Polls are closed honey, let’s go watch.”
Bo, Nora, Marcie and Al, along with the rest of Nora’s supporters gathered around the bar to wait for the official results to come in. Nora looked over at Bo who winked and smiled that ‘Bo Buchanan smile’. The news announcer finally came to the DA race results, “And for today’s final race, the race for District Attorney of Llantano County, the winner by a landslide is, “Nora Buchanan.”
Nora turned and looked at Bo in shock. He picked her up and spun her around as their family and friends cheered and offered their congratulations. Matthew watches his parents, trying to figure out what just happened. He walked over to Renee and tugged on her shirt. She bent down so she could hear him over the commotion, “Grandma, what just happened?”
Renee laughed and picked Matthew up, “Why darling your mom won…”
Matthew looks at her, still confused, “What did she win?”
“You’re mom is now the most important lawyer in town, she’s the District Attorney.”
“Oh…”, still not knowing what Renee was talking about but suddenly bored with the conversation, “Grandma, can I have a root beer float please.”
“Of course you can, darling, let’s go”, taking him by the hand and leading him over to the bar.
Bo stood beside Nora as she accepted everyone’s congratulations. He motioned for Marcie to come over. He whispered in her ear and handed her a coin. She nodded and walked over to the jukebox. The song began to play as Bo took Nora’s hand and led her out onto the dance floor.
Like a candle
Burning bright
Love is glowing in your eyes
A flame to light our way
That burns brighter everyday
But now I have you
Nobody loves me like you do.
Bo pulls her tight; his hand resting in that familiar place. She leans her head on his shoulder as they slowly sway to the music
Like a leaf
Upon the wind
I could find a place to land
I dream the hours away
And wonder everyday
Do dreams come true
Nobody loves me like you do
Al led Marcie out onto the dance floor, her head resting against his chest; her eyes closed, falling more and more in love with him every day.
What if I never met you
Where would I be now
Funny how life just falls in place somehow
Ooh you touched my heart in places
That I never even knew
Cuz nobody loves me like you do
Matthew sat in the booth with his Grandma, watching his parents dance, the beauty of what he was seeing lost on him, except for the fact that his parents were together. Renee watched them together and looked down at the engagement ring on her finger; knowing that all is the way it should be.
Mm I was words without a tune
I was a song still unsung
Poem with no rhyme
A dancer out of time
But now there’s you
Nobody loves me like you do
Nora lifts her head off of Bo’s shoulder and looks at him, his heart skipping a beat as he looks into her eyes, seeing the light that only exists when he’s there to love her. He leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips, all the love he has for her felt in that one kiss.
Marcie lifts her head off of Al’s chest and looks at him. He lays his hand on her face and mouth’s “I love you”, just before taking her lips in his; kissing her softly, all the love he has for her can be felt in that one kiss.
The love between the two couples on the dance floor mirror the other, both finding their soul mates; one having lost it; finally finding it again, the other just discovering it a little more everyday.
The song ended but they held each other for a few moments. Bo leaned in and whispered in her ear, “Are you ready to get out of here, Red? I have a surprise for you.”
She pulls out of his embrace and looks at him, her eyes dancing with mischief, “A surprise, huh?”
“Yeah, everything’s set. Matthew is going to stay with MaryAnn at the house so that he can get off to school tomorrow, and you, Ms. DA, and I are going to spend the night at the Palace.”
“Oh really, and what do you suggest we do once we get to the Palace, Mr. Commissioner?”
“You’ll see,” his eyes full of desire.
They said their goodbyes and kissed Matthew goodbye, reminding him to behave and listen to MaryAnn. They walked out of Rodi’s and made the short drive over to the Palace. They walked up to the front desk and retrieved their room key. They entered the elevator both of them knowing where this evening will lead, neither one planning on stopping it from getting there. It was time…they’ve had enough of ‘taking it slow’.
He inserted the key in the lock and opened the door. She started to walk in but he reached out and stopped her, “Allow me,” picking her up and carrying her into the suite. She wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head against his shoulder. He carries her over to the bed and lies her down. He lies down beside her and runs his fingers along her cheek, “I love you.”
“Saying things like that will get you everywhere, Mr. Buchanan.”
There’s a light in your eyes tonight
You know I know that look anywhere
You got plans and I’m one lucky man
Before we get so carried away
Theirs just something I’ve been wanting to say
He softly kisses her, her fingers running through his hair as his tongue parts her lips. Their tongues dance as their hands begin to explore each other’s bodies. She slides her hands up his chest stopping at the top button of his dress shirt. She slowly unbuttons it; sliding it down his arms; throwing it on the floor beside the bed. His lips move from her lips to just below her ear, to that place that melts her insides and sends her places no one else has been able to do. He kisses down her neck; to the opening of her shirt; an opening that is giving him a glimpse of what is to be revealed. He begins to unbutton her shirt; a kiss accompanying each opened button.
When we make love
It’s more than just an affair
I want you to know how much I care
When we make love
Oh it’s such a precious time
We share our hearts, our souls, our minds
When we make love
Her shirt soon joins his on the floor. She lies there in just her black lace bra, her breasts full and round and longing to be touched. He opens the front clasp and pulls the straps down her arms, once again following the straps with his lips until her bra also lies on the floor. He takes her breast in his mouth, the other in his hand; running his fingertips over her nipple, his tongue caressing her other nipple. She arches her back allowing him to take more of her into his mouth. She runs her hands across his chest; traveling lower, stopping at the waistband of his pants. She makes quick work of his belt, pulling on the button of his pants; pulling them and his boxers down over his hips. She takes him in her hand, causing him to shudder at the contact.
Watching you make your little moves
Well I can tell it’s gonna be a long night
All day long, we keep holding on
It couldn’t be any better than this
I got it all in my fingertips
He removes his hand from her breast; his tongue continuing to pleasure the other as he makes his way down to the waistband of her skirt. He unzips the zipper; sliding the skirt and her panties down over her hips. He breaks contact with her breasts for a moment so he can look at her lying in front of him; her body washed in candlelight, the changes that her body is going through already evident; causing him to fall in love with her all over again. “My God you’re beautiful,” he whispers as he crashes his lips back down onto hers. His hands travel down her arms, along the outside of her thighs; she opens her legs; allowing him to slip his fingers in between her moist folds. A moan escapes from deep within her as his fingers begin to pleasure her. She continues to stroke his desire, the feel of her hands on him bringing him closer and closer to the edge. He can feel her getting close, he pauses; teasing her, causing another moan to escape from deep within her. He breaks contact with her lips; kissing her neck, down her chest, along her slightly round stomach; until he reaches his destination. His tongue quickly replaces his fingers; his hand making its way back up to her breast; teasing her nipple. He knew she was ready. He removed his tongue; positioning himself over her. She looked into his eyes, her chest rising and falling as she struggled to breath, “Make love to me, Bo”, she breathlessly whispers. He answers her plea as he slowly enters her.
When we make love
It’s more than just an affair
I want you to know how much I care
When we make love
Oh it’s such a precious time
We share our hearts, our souls, our minds
When we make love
He brought his lips back down onto her; she could taste herself on his tongue as their bodies fell into their familiar rhythm. She reached up and grabbed the headboard; her knuckles turning white as her grip tightened with each thrust. He reached up and removed her hands from the headboard; intertwining his fingers with hers; resting her arms above her head. Each movement, touch, sound she made was familiar. He knew when she wanted him to slow or to speed up. Their bodies communicated perfectly; they were truly a perfect fit.
Their breathing became heavy; their bodies covered in perspiration as they continued to take each other places that only existed between them; whispering each other’s names in ecstasy. Just when they thought they could no longer take it, she tightened around him, both of their bodies shuddering with desire.
They lie in each other’s arms, their bodies still connected in the most intimate way. Their breathing remains heavy, their hearts beating rapidly. Bo kissed her softly and then looked into her eyes still, glazed with passion. She felt him harden inside her, knowing soon their dance would begin again.
They finally fell asleep in each other’s arms; their breathing finally returning to normal, their hearts no longer beating rapidly. They lie together; his arms holding her tight, her body pressed against his; neither one knowing that at the same time across town someone was tearing their world apart…
