Chapter Two

No longer able to breath, she pulls back and looks in his eyes. Lightly tracing the outline of his lips, she asked quietly and unsure "What are we doing?" Just then they heard a car door slam, followed moments later by keys in the lock.

Nora quickly jumps up, almost losing her footing. Bo scrambles to sit upright on the couch just as Flash walks through the door, "Nora...Uncle Bo..."

He straightens his shirt, as Nora pulls her robe tighter around her, "Hi, Flash, umm, I wasn't expecting you home from LA until tomorrow."

She noticed the situation and the color that came to both their faces when she walked in. "Oh, well I could leave you two, to do well...whatever...but isn't Matthew upstairs?"

Bo and Nora turned to each other and shrugged. "Yeah, he’s upstairs, well unless he snuck out while I wasn't looking and rode his bike to Dorian's again."

Flash looked between them and just rolled her eyes, knowing they were just trying to make light of the embarrassing situation they found themselves in, "Well proceed if you want, I'm going to bed."

He stood up to join her, turning her towards him so he could look in her eyes, "I guess, maybe, I should go," he continues to stare at her....looking for a sign.

She battled with her emotions; she wasn't sure what to say. They said they would take things slow, but did she want to? She convinced herself Flash coming home was a sign. "Umm yeah I'll call you tomorrow, ok?"

She watches him walk out of the room, and when the door closes behind him she whispers, "I love you." He stops on the front porch and turns back to look at her through the window, "I love you, Red."

She turned off the living room light, before walking back up the stairs. She brought her fingers up to her lips, the feel of his lips on hers still burned her skin, she had wanted to ask him to stay the night, but they had sworn to take things slow, for their sakes as well as Matthew’s.

He walked into his room at the Palace, as he unbuttons his shirt he closes his eyes, his lips still burning from their kiss, "I will go as slow as you want Red, I waited once; I can do it again."

She walked down the hall and walked into Matthews room, she pulled the kicked off covers back on top of him and crouched down beside him as she kissed his forehead. "You do look so much like him; I don't know how I never saw it before."

It's six o'clock the next morning. Bo is trying to work on the paperwork piled on his desk in vein. He wasn't able to sleep at all, so he figured he'd try a little work...

She walks into her office at 6:15, her briefcase under her arm, a cup of coffee in the other. Sleep hadn't come easy and when it finally came she was awaken by her son's small voice calling her from the next room. He had had a nightmare and ended up spending the next few hours in her bed.

He walks out of his office, his head down, staring at the file he's holding, he never sees her as he rounds the corner, knocking her off balance, causing the coffee to spill all over him. Dropping the file and the cup on the nearest desk, she picked up a pile of napkins. She apologized profusely, not letting him get two words in. Her attempts to clean up the mess only making it worse finally she spat out "Take off your shirt."

"Why Red, in the hallway????"

"Well," he starts moving forward, backing her towards her office, as he starts undoing the buttons of his shirt, "we really can't have the Commissioner walking around with coffee all over his shirt now can we?"

Proceeding to help him with the buttons, giving him a mischievous grin, "Why no we can't, which is why I am here to help you with that, Commish." His grin matched hers and he leaned in to kiss her but she broke in "Now take off your shirt and get your head out of the gutter."

He reaches up and runs his finger down her cheek, "With you this close, it's impossible for my mind to be anywhere else."

He steps closer until her back was pressed against the wall of her office. She looked down at his open shirt. She licked her lips as she brought her trembling hands up and ran them across his chest. His skin ignited as she touched him, causing him to jump, she looked up into his eyes, filled with desire, and love, smiling she hooked her thumbs in his shirt, pulling it down his shoulders.

Their lips met, bringing with it years of desire and regret of the night before. He moved to her neck and she grabbed the hair at the back of his neck, moaning as he hit the spot that always drove her crazy. Their lips met again and never left contact as he pushed her suit coat jacket off. He brought his hands down to the buttons on her shirt; slowly unbuttoning them as his lips continued to caress her neck...She leaned her head back against the wall; the feeling of his lips on her skin, causing her knees to grow weak.... "Bo," she pushed him back, "Please not here; not like this."

Their breathing still labored, he pulled back, "You're right, I'm sorry....." he helped her with her shirt.

She walked across the room he followed her. "I'm not sure what we're supposed to do now." She looked at him vulnerable. "We've been down this road, and I want to go down it with you again, it's just...."

He smiled knowingly, "It's just that you are scared of what'll happen if by some odd chance this doesn't work out."

She nods, "I told you last night that I barely kept sane, I don't know how I'd survive it this time..."

He placed his hand on her cheek, "I'm not going anywhere, I promise you that. We're going to take this second chance we have been given and we're going to make a beautiful life together. The two of us, and our son; the way it should've been. So," he grabs the LPD sweatshirt from the back of her door, slipping it over his head, than flashes her a sexy grin, "Ms. Buchanan, would you be interested in having dinner with me this evening, maybe followed by a little dancing?"

Her smile matches his, this was going to work out; she could feel it. "Well I think I can squeeze you in."

He turns around and walks out the door with a huge smile on his face, “Tonight will be a night you'll never forget, Red."

He pauses outside the door; his hand still on the knob. She walks slowly towards it and reaches for the knob; pulling it open. He turns and faces her; a hint of mischief dancing in both their eyes. She glances down the hallway to the left and then to the right before reaching out and taking a hold of his sweatshirt; pulling him towards her; placing a kiss on his lips. "That’s a preview of tonight, my love."
