Chapter Thirty Six:

The next few weeks flew by in a blur. Bo is no closer to finding out who killed the young man they had in custody for his shooting than he was in finding out who really killed Mitch Laurence. The medical examiner’s report indicated that he had died from “natural causes”. Bo still thought there was something suspicious about this death but with a corner’s report showing no foul play there wasn’t much he could do about it.

The day before the wedding finally arrived and Bo and Nora had been busy getting everything ready for her parents and Rachel’s arrival. They had decided on a small intimate evening ceremony, just them and their children at the ceremony, their friends and the rest of their family will help them celebrate later. They had finally decided to have the ceremony in their living room and the reception on the terrace at Asa’s.

The morning of their wedding….

He woke up that morning like he has every morning for the past 6 months; their legs intertwined; his arm holding her close; her head resting on his chest. He laid there listening to her breath as she continued to sleep. Thoughts of their last wedding flood his mind as he lays there staring at the ceiling. He slowly slips out of bed careful not to wake her. She stirs but rolls over and falls back to sleep. He pulls his t-shirt over his head and walks down the hallway to Matthew’s room. He quietly walked over to his bed and looked at his son as he slept. He couldn’t remember a time prior to finding out that Matthew was his when he’s been this happy, at least not in the past five years….

He kissed Matthew gently on the forehead and made his way downstairs. He walked over to the window and looked out at the sunrise. He couldn’t believe that he was about to marry her again, a day that he never thought would come, but if he was honest with himself, he knew it was something he’d always wanted.

He walked over to the desk and sat down; flipping the small desk lamp on; casting a small glow across the room. He took out one of her legal pads and began writing…

Upstairs in their bedroom….

She reached out for him but found his side of the bed empty. She looked at the clock and wondered where he was. She grabbed her robe and wrapped it tightly around her and walked down the hallway to check on Matthew. He was still asleep. She walked down the stairs and saw him sitting behind the desk lost in thought. She stood there for a while just watching him; falling more in love with him by the minute; if that was even possible. She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck; looking over his shoulder; after kissing his neck…

“What are you doing down here at 6:00 in the morning? (running her hands down his chest) I woke up alone and I missed you.”

“I couldn’t sleep and I didn’t want to disturb you, so I came down here to fulfill a promise.”

“A promise, huh? Care to let me in on the secret?”

“Nope sorry, not until the wedding.”

“You’re no fun.”

“You want to bet. Come back upstairs with me and I’ll show you how much fun I can be.”

He turned around in the chair and sat her down in his lap. They kissed each other just as Matthew came running down the stairs….

“You guys kiss too much.”

“Oh, just you wait Matty, just you wait.”

“Mom, I’m hungry.”

“He is so your son.”

“Alright Matt, let’s go get some breakfast.”

Bo watched her walk away; her arm around their son; her other hand resting lovingly across her stomach and he fell in love with her all over again….He folded the paper in half and placed it in his suit coat that was hanging in the closet by the door. He walked towards the kitchen as Matthew came running out carrying a box of donuts.

“Hey dad, mom said we can have jelly donuts for breakfast since it’s a special day.”

Winking at Nora as she walked out of the kitchen, “Well your mom’s right today is a special day, one I know I’ll never forget.”

Bo sat down on the couch and pulled Nora down onto his lap. She leaned against his chest as he wrapped his arms around her resting them on her stomach. Matt climbed up on the couch and faced his parents.

“Daddy, can you tell me all about your other wedding to mommy?”

“Now that is another day I’ll never forget. I remember how beautiful your mom looked that day, more beautiful than I’d ever seen her. We had wanted a rock-n-roll wedding but instead of planning the wedding ourselves we let Uncle Hank and some of our other friends plan it for us. We almost didn’t get married that day because it wasn’t the way we had dreamed it would be. We were about to walk out of the church together when all of a sudden Little Richard appeared at the front of the church….”

“Who’s Little Richard?”

Places his hand over his heart, laughing “Red, you never told him about Little Richard? I can’t believe I’m hearing this?”

“He’s only 6 Bo.”

Smiling, “But he’s a Buchanan and so starting today he will know who Little Richard is…”

Bo moves her off his lap and goes over to the CD player and puts the CD in….He walks over and pulls her off the couch while Matthew sneaks another jelly donut.

Bo took her in his arms and they began to dance like only they can dance…Their eyes reflecting everything their hearts were feeling….

Good Golly Miss Molly

You sure like to ball

Good Golly Miss Molly

You sure like to ball

And when you're rocking and rolling

I can hear your mama call

Good Golly Miss Molly

Nora held out her hand and Matthew placed his in hers….They continued to dance together; teaching their son everything they knew…he of course was a natural….

From the early early morning

Till the early early night

Molly's gonna rocking at the house of blue lights

Good Golly Miss Molly...

Well come up to the corner

gonna buy a diamond ring

Won’t you kiss me kiss me

Make me ting-a-ling-a-ling.......

Good Golly Miss Molly...

They danced the morning away switching to slow songs when Matthew fell asleep amongst the CD cases strewn across the room….

“Happy wedding day, Red.”

“Happy wedding day, Bo.”

He carried Matthew upstairs to his bed then joined her in their bedroom where he showed her how much fun he could be…..
